Bruce Anderson has had a long career in rock and improvised music. For this evening he will be playing a series of structured improvisations on archtop guitar. Bruce’s music draws inspiration from composers Morton Feldman, Olivier Messiaen and Eric Satie. His solo work is defined by a closed system of modular note cells, which pattern and unfold like a kaleidoscope.

Dean Santomieri, on summer recess from the Santomieri-Farhadian Duo, will be playing solo pieces on resonator guitar, and in trio with Gusty Winds May Exist. His structured improvisations are derived from the vocabulary of Contemporary New Music, Popular Music and Free Improvisation.
