Negative Press Project Album Release Show at California Jazz Conservatory

Co-directed by Andrew Lion (bass) and Ruthie Dineen (piano/keys), Negative Press Project (NPP) is the culmination of a partnership between a jazz converted “rock & pop” bass player and classically trained pianist, with extensive jazz and afro-cuban/salsa performance experience. Each player is committed to high spirited and mischievous improvisatory statements throughout the twists and turns of NPP’s instrumental arrangements.

The group is celebrating the release of their first full-length studio album in September 2015.

Short Bio
A (scalable) seven-piece electro-acoustic jazz/indie-rock inspired original music collective based in Oakland, CA, Negative Press Project evolved as the musical vision of bassist and co-leader, Andrew Lion (OONA, Jeff Campbell). NPP began as a one-off studio experiment engineered by Jon Evans (Tori Amos, Sarah Mclachlan), supported by the inimitable Matthew Charles Heulitt (Narada Michael Walden, Zigaboo Modeliste, Moetar), with Joel Behrman (Sheila E., The E Family Band featuring Pete Escovedo, Leah Tysse, Phillip Phillips), pianist, Adam Shulman (Marcus Shelby Orchestra), and drummer, Rick Munoz (Pine & Battery, Jeff Campbell). The debut full-length studio album from the group in 2015 featured special guest Jason Lewis on drums (Taylor Eigsti, Boz Scaggs, Laurie Antonioli).
