The Livermore Rotary Club is pleased to announce the headliner for their annual fundraiser. Roger Glenn, master multi-instrumentalist and entertainer on the flute, sax and vibraphone, and son of the late Tyree Glenn who was one of the 57 notable jazz musicians pictured in the historic photo “A Great Day in Harlem” is bringing his six-piece Roger Glenn Latin Jazz Ensemble to the Firehouse Arts Center Theater in Pleasanton, CA on Friday, September 6, 2013.
Roger has performed and toured to enthusiastic, sold out audiences with jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie (Bahiana), Mongo Santamaria (Mongo ’70), Rosemary Clooney (Sings the Lyrics of Ira Gershwin), Herbie Mann and Pete Escovedo (Solo Two). Roger’s flute playing is featured on the Grammy-award winning album "La Onda Va Bien" with Cal Tjader, as well as many notable recordings by Donald Byrd (Black Byrd), Peaches and Herb (Reunited), ConFunkShun (Chase Me), Bobby Hutcherson (Ambos Mundos) and Mongo Santamaria (Mongo at Montreux). This show will feature Roger’s original compositions from his soon to be released CD In the Moment. Special guest for this performance is acclaimed Windham Hill recording artist, guitarist Ray Obiedo.
