Guitarist/composer John Schott, bassist Dan Seamans, and drummer John Hanes bring deep resumes and vast experience to this group. The trio has now spent a decade playing together constantly, rehearsing, recording, performing, and traveling, and you can hear it in the music. The Actual Trio came together to play a once-a-month gig in Oakland, CA that lasted for four years and built a loyal following. In subsequent years the group has toured the West Coast twice, performed twice at the Stone in New York, as well as other East Coast venues such as Firehouse 12, and was a featured artist at the Other Minds Festival at SFJazz in 2014. The Actual Trio has released two CDs, on Tzadik and SchottÕs label Smash The State. Both were produced by Hans Wendl, long associated with ECM, Nonesuch and Grammavision and acclaimed for his work with Charlie Haden, Bill Frisell, Ravi Shankar, and Don Byron.
