A tribute to the late great drummer, composer and longtime guiding spirit of the Bay Area jazz scene, Eddie Marshall! Featuring former members of his working band, the Eddie Marshall Quintet,รwho come together from NYC and the Bay Area every year to celebrate Eddie's brilliant, exciting music. And in the drum chair, Eddie's son,รAlcide Marshall! รTrumpeter and multi-instrumentalist Peck Allmond has lived in Brooklyn, New York since 1993.Originally from the SF Bay Area, he was a product of Phil Hardymon's Berkeleyjazz program that also produced such luminaries as Benny Green and Joshua Redman. As a youngster, Peck was mentored and hired by many SF jazz greats: Eddie Marshall, Mark Levine, Ed Kelly, John Coppola, Vince Wallace, Smiley Winters, Donald Bailey, Bud Spangler, Faye Carol, and Chuck Clark. Working with these masters was a rich jazz education. In NYC, Peck leads and composes for his own band, the Peck Allmond Group. In addition, he is an in-demand sideman on numerous instruments: trumpet, saxophones, flute, valve trombone and many other brass and reeds. He also plays kalimba, the African-derived thumb piano, to which he brings an unusual degree of virtuosity. His jazz recording and performance credits: Oliver Lake, John Hicks, Billy Harper, Don Cherry, Pharoah Sanders, Tom Harrell, MeShell Ndegeocello, John Stubblefield, Joe Lovano, Cindy Blackman, Madeleine Peyroux, Donny McCaslin, and Peter Apfelbaum. In the pop world: James Brown, Rickie Lee Jones, Sean Lennon, Randy Newman, Ray Lamontagne, Wyclef Jean, Allan Toussaint, Zooey Deschanel, and many others.รNumerous television appearances include The Tonight Show,รSaturday NightรLive, the Conan O'Brien Show, Today, and the Mark Twain Comedy Awards. Hisรcompositions were featured by the late great Jackie McLean in Jackie's quintet.รThe San Francisco Examiner: Peck is ร...a magnificent trumpeterรand aรforceful, post-bop modern saxophonist. The music he writes for his groupรis conceptually brilliant and marvelously played.ร Allaboutjazz.com: aรรformidable talent.ร Jackie McLean: Peck is "a true triple threat: trumpet,รsaxophone, and composition." Peck was the Traveling Trumpet Clinician for the Monterey Jazz Festival 2005-2017, and since September 2017 has been a woodwind instructor for Jazz at Lincoln Center. He teaches extensively at the New York Jazz Academy, and privately in the New York City area.
