Band Members and Instrumentation: Matthew Charles Heulitt Ð guitar; Matt Renzi - tenor sax; Miles Wick - acoustic bass; Tim Bulkley Ð drums. Bios: Matthew Charles Heulitt has been on the Bay Area scene for 20 years, doing session work, touring internationally, working for a multitude of artists as a side-man, as well as leading his own groups. He spent 15 years with master drummer Zigaboo Modeliste of The Meters, and the last 10 touring and recording with Grammy award winning producer/drummer Narada Michael Walden (Jeff Beck, The Mahavishnu Orchestra). His work with east bay art-pop band MoeTar which landed him a feature article in Guitar Player Magazine in 2015. The MCH Quartet offers an opportunity to explore the jazz side of his playing which has influences of Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, and the Brian Blade Fellowship. MCH has a BM in jazz performance from the University of Miami and has studied with many teachers including Wayne Krantz and Ben Monder. Multi-reedist Matt Renzi has been performing professionally for the past 20 years at international jazz festivals and music venues worldwide. For the past decade, he has been recognized multiple times by jazz organizations in Italy, Spain, Belgium, India and Israel as well as in the United States for his advanced concepts in spontaneous group composition and collective improvisation with The Matt Renzi Trio. He holds a BachelorÕs in Music (Performance) from the Berklee College of Music and MasterÕs in Arts (Classical Composition) from San Francisco State University. Some of his teachers include Joe Henderson and South Indian Vocalist R.A. Ramamani. Miles Wick is a creative musician and teacher with ties to the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. By trade a jazz bassist, Miles contributes to a number of different musical projects in a variety of styles from folk to rock to improvised. He can also be found singing his own songs, which have been performed on both coasts and internationally. Tim Bulkley is known for a musical, intuitive approach to drumming. He grew up taking piano lessons, taking art classes, singing in choirs and studying the drums. He has played and recorded with artists including Dayna Stephens, Michelle Amador, Goh Nakamura, Evan Francis, Anton Schwartz, The Invisible Cities, John Lester, Postmodern Jukebox, Adam Platt, Stacey Kent, Boz Scaggs, Peter Bernstein, Telepathy, Wil Blades, Dandelion Dance Company and BodyVox Dance.
