Dr. John was one of our great national treasures: a pianist, singer, composer, and keeper of the New Orleans cultural flame. His music synthesized styles ranging from the Great American songbook to Professor Longhair. This workshop will demystify and break down his playing into bite-sized pieces that you can incorporate into your own music. Handouts will include transcriptions, listening guides, and suggestions for further study. Prerequisites: basic piano proficiency and reading, familiarity with major and minor chords.
