Sheilani Alix received formal musical training from the age of 5, studying classical piano with the Vallejo Conservatory of Music under the Music Teachers Association of California.
Her jazz influence stems from her mother constantly playing records by Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and others since she was a little girl.
As years passed, other influences included Dinah Washington, Lalah Hathaway, and Eva Cassidy.
