Wells began her singing career by chance in an intimate supper club in St. Germain des Pres in Paris. She joined the trio playing that night for a few tunes, and the audience's explosive applause encouraged her to begin training to sing professionally. Soon after, she won the New Talent Competition at the Sweet n' Hot Jazz Festival in Los Angeles, and qualified as a semifinalist for the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition....
