A piano prodigy from the age of six, Billy Childs has forged a remarkable career that combines engaging work as a composer and steady gigs as a bandleader. Awards and accolades have followed him at every step, including three Grammys, a Guggenheim Fellowship (for his compositions and arrangements) and the Doris Duke Performing Artist Award. And he also keeps good company on the bandstand, with notable collaborators including Yo-Yo Ma, Sting, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Jack DeJohnette and Wynton Marsalis.
