Heliotrope Ragtime Orchestra at Mississippi Room at the Lafayette Hotel

HRO is looking forward to the AFCDJS concert. They've added new tunes to their book since last year, including “New Orleans Stomp,” “Champagne Rag,” and “La Paloma.” Josh Mills will be subbing for Everett Crouse on clarinet and alto sax, and they have a new drummer, Suzanne Tractenberg. Returning musicians include co-leaders Bob Pinsker (piano) and Bruce Vermazen (cornet); Fernando Herrera (flute and alto sax); Patrick McMahon (tenor sax), John Winkelman (tuba); Dan and Cheryl Swem (violins); Ken Lemke (cornet); and John Ralston (trombone). The band will play lots of good sweet and hot dance tunes from the 1890's to the 1920's, played from the original orchestrations....
