Ben and Sheldon have been playing together for longer than either can remember. They've played together with Clarinet Thing, with Darren Johnston’s groups, Graham Connah’s various ensembles, etc., etc., but one of their favorite settings is playing in the “chord-less quartet” format. They started doing that many years ago with an original music project called “Papa’s Midnight Hop” (after the Steve Lacy tune), and after that project ended they kept working in the quartet format doing music of Herbie Nichols and Thelonious Monk.
