Born in Sao Paulo, now living in the Bay Area, Marcos Silva performs his own high energy compositions interspersed with the melodic Bossa Novas we all know and love. With the hugely talented Mary Fettig on saxophones and flute, Scott Thompson on bass, Phil Thompson, drums, and vocals by Mary D’Orazi, you’ll be samba–ing in the aisles. Marcos was Musical Director for Flora Purim and Airto for more than 23 years, has toured with Paquito D’Rivera and Bud Shank and replaced Gil Evans as arranger for Airto’s “Spiritual Mass.” Dick Conte, veteran DJ at KJZZ and KCSM and Brazilian music aficionado, is MC for this concert.
