With her supple sense of swing, blues-inflected phrasing, and gift for empathic interpretation, it’s easy to see why The New York Times declared Mary Stallings “perhaps the best jazz singer alive today.” Stallings has a long history with SFJAZZ, including a tour-de- force performance at our historic Opening Night concert with Eric Reed, whom she is paired with on Friday night. On Thursday night, she teams up with pianist Kenny Barron.
