Stanley Clarkeโs drummer Mike Mitchell (aka โBlaque Dynamiteโ) defies all expectations and norms. While most aspiring drums spend years working on technique, studying with various pros, and poring over โModernDrummerโ, all in the hopes of landing a spot with a hot artist, Texas native Mike Mitchell took the road less traveled to achieve positive results. Mitchell mounted the drum kit in Fort Worthโs St. Matthewโs Baptist Church at two years of age, and by age eleven he had landed several drum endorsements. He attended Dallasโs renowned Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts, but before graduation day Stanley Clarke whisked him away for a world tour, the first of many. Mitchell has toured with R&B queen Erykah Badu, as well as many jazz stars including Christian McBride, Christian Scott, Derrick Hodge and Antonio Hart. At only 23 years of age, he has also performed with Herbie Hancock! Known is Blaque Dynamite, Mitchell just released his second album โKillingBugsโ (Ropeadope).
