An exciting band with a big sound, this group of some of SF’s finest celebrates the music of the hard bop era with a mix of originals and songs from Clifford Jordan, Horace Silver, Kenny Dorham, and more. For this show, they will be joined by master drummer and bay area legend Akira Tana.
Patrick Wolff is a jazz saxophone and clarinet player with a long history in the jazz scenes of New York City and San Francisco. With six albums previously released under his name, Wolff has made his mark as a bandleader performing his adventurous original compositions, along with partnering with more classic ensembles focused on repertoire of the bebop and hard bop eras. His playing has been characterized by a focus on lyricism and an embrace of the whole lineage of jazz styles.
