So with such a prominent blues presence, many don't realize her roots are as firmly in Jazz as they are. For this show Paula teams up with Nate Ginsberg and his acoustic trio- to present a jazzy, bluesy and impudent show that pulls from the great American songbook, smooth jazz, and provocative lyrics full of humor and double entendre. They pull a surprisingly wide array of songs together which all represent the intersection of Jazz & Blues…with a heaping dose of soul on the side. It’s shocking downright sexy and entertaining to be lulled by the elegant complexity of a beautiful jazz standard- then forced to laughter at the witty naughty lyrics from either Paula or some of the lesser known “greats” of the 40’s-60 such as Dinah Washington and Helen Humes.
Nate and crew are on fire playing with passion and intensity as they shine in this new format! Nate has toured and recorded with legends such as Herbie Hancock, Larry Graham, Dizzie Gillespie, Randy Neuman and more. He crosses the genres of Jazz, Blues, R&B, Soul & Funk with ease and finesse. He takes piano playing to a jaw dropping concert level. Deszon Claiborne has played with everyone from Taj Majal to Clairdee, he is also a driving force behind the fantastic energy and pulse of this show. Deszon is most recently known for his work as the drummer for Tony Lindsay’s hit show “Soul Soldiers” He is a multi-genre crossing wizard of rhythm! Rich Girard is a master of the Upright fretless bass. He has worked on Windham Hill records as well as for acts as varied as the Talking Heads to Cleo Laine and Roy Rogers. This band is not “Side men” this is a trio of band leaders who have come together for an explosive musical result. Add Paula’s 4 octave powerhouse vocals- and it is an experience not to be missed.

The night is also a jam- so if you play an instrument or sing please let Paula or Nate Know and they will work you into the show. Remember to bring your instrument. Singers, if the tune is well known- just know your key. If the tune is not as well known- lead sheets or sheet music would be great! Nate knows a TON of music too- so you should be able to find something that works!

Savanna Jazz in the newest and only Jazz venue in the peninsula. It's darkly intimate and inviting in the way speakeasies of the 30's- 60’s were. It’s vibe feels as though Billie Holliday or Miles Davis could walk through the door at any minute. They do offer a full bar are wine list, as well as a limited number of appetizers.

Showtime is 7:30-10:30 and there is a $15 cover that all goes directly to the band.

The venue is small and fills fast. Parties of more than 6 are encouraged to call ahead to ensure adequate seating.
