Tord Gustavsen Trio at San Francisco Jazz Festival at SFJAZZ Center

A SFJazz favorite since his debut in 2005, Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen returns with his new trio and a blend of Sufi poetry and Norwegian hymns. The music has just been released on the album What Was Said, his seventh for ECM Records. This new project builds upon Gustavsen's long and deep musical association with drummer Jarle Vespestad, introduces the entrancing Afghan-German vocalist Simin Tander, and explores the tradition of Norwegian church music in a most untraditional way.
