Jazz In The Neighborhood Presents John Schott Trio at Copperfield's Books (san Rafael)

Jazz Times has called John Schott’s Actual Trio “one of the Bay Area’s most brilliant diamonds.” Led by John Schott on guitar, the trio is rounded out by Dan Seamans on acoustic bass and John Hanes on drums. Formed in 2011 to play a monthly gig at the Actual Café in Oakland, they held a regular spot there for five years as well as going on East and West coast tours and performing at various venues including SFJazz. In 2015, they released their critically acclaimed eponymous CD on John Zorn’s Tzadik label.

All acknowledged masters on their instruments, the Actual Trio have spent years playing together in the studio and on the road, forging a singular group voice in the crowded world of modern guitar-oriented Jazz. Schott’s compositions put groove, free improvisation, humor, melody, and harmony into a blender, and bring out the stellar musicianship Seamans and Hanes....
