About

Antonio Sánchez’s ingenious percussion soundtrack for the Oscar-winning film Birdman – he received a Satellite Award for Original Score, a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Movie Score, and a Grammy nomination in 2014 – has solidified the drummer/composer’s reputation for musical innovation and imagination. As a member of the Pat Metheny Unity Group for over fifteen years, he is well-known for his incendiary, but tasteful drumming. Sanchez’s talents as a composer shine on his 2015 release, The Meridian Suite, performed in its entirety this evening, with his Migration band featuring Seamus Blake, pianist John Escreet, bassist Matt Brewer, and vocalist Thana Alexa.
