Dillon Baiocchi and the Neon Deon Express at Kuumbwa Jazz Center

Dillon Baiocchi, an alumnus of the Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band, returns with his new project: The Neon Deon Express. Reflective of a new generation of jazz, the Express infuses elements of contemporary non-jazz artists – Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, Andrew Bird – with an olio of originals and jazz standards. Baiocchi is a graduate of New York's New School of Contemporary Jazz, and also a 2012 DownBeat Student Music Award. He cites Cannonball Adderley as a major influence. Like Adderley, Baiocchi believes music should maintain an element of fun along side its more serious objectives.
