A truly singular jazz guitar talent from Sofia, Bulgaria, Hristo Vitchev creates, as Jazziz magazine puts it, “impressionistic sound paintings.” Since his 2009 recording debut, Vitchev has toured across the globe and has nearly 300 compositions to his name. Familiar Fields marks his fifth release as a leader. The album’s nine original compositions display the multidimensional tonality of his quartet, taking the listener through jazz, classical, new age, and experimental music, all-the-while retaining the shimmering harmonies and guitar lines that have brought Vitchev critical acclaim.
