Founded in 1987 by drummer Jim Black and saxophonists Andrew D’Angelo and Chris Speed (joined by guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel in 1990), Human Feel balances delicate lyricism and sheer power, order and chaos, discipline and anarchy. In its early days, Human Feel became one of the pivotal bands in New York’s “downtown” scene; where John Zorn, Paul Motian and others counted themselves as devotees and hired the band’s members for their own groups. The band is currently prepping their sixth release, a follow-up to 2008’s acclaimed Galore album.
