About
Santa Cruz native and Kuumbwa Jazz Honor Band alumnus John Bouwsma returns to the Kuumbwa stage leading his own band, NolaBop. A music student at Loyola University New Orleans, the saxophonist weaves a fresh sound of traditional jazz and funk with the burgeoning styles of hip-hop and neo-soul. NolaBop performs original music by members of the band including keyboardist Casey Mattson, as well as members of the Santa Cruz jazz collective Bebop, including guitarist Cameron Smith, bassist Aron Caceres and drummer Grae Zimmerman.
