The following two years, Hathaway was honored by Grammy voters for her own work. In 2016, the Best Traditional R&B Performance Grammy went to her for her version of her late father Donny Hathaways’s “Little Ghetto Boy.” She doubled down the following year by winning for both Traditional R&B Performance (for “Angel”) and Best R&B Album (Lalah Hathaway Live), becoming the first and only artist to ever “three-peat” in the Best Traditional R&B category.

Whether lauded by her peers or adored by her fans, Hathaway’s praise is deserved and reflected back to audiences whether pumped over home speakers…or at 2018 Summer Fest.
