Leon Joyce Jr.'s musical career began in high school while touring with the Greater Hartford Community College Theater Group. You may have heard him at the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the Villingen Swing/Jazz Festival in Germany, the Playboy Jazz Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, or the slew of other festivals where he has played with his trio and as a sideman. As a drummer/percussionist, Leon has worked with the likes of Ramsey Lewis, Nancy Wilson, Smokey Robinson, Teena Marie, Carmen Dragon, Claude T. Smith, (and locally) the Sista Monica Band, the Jamie Davis Quintet, and more. He has led clinics around the United States, and currently freelances in Chicago and around the Bay Area....
