The San Jose Jazz Summer Fest All Star Big Band is a collaboration between trumpeter Niel Livonius, saxophonist Fil Lorenz and trombonist/local brewer Dan Gordon. Founded eight years ago, it features an amazing mix of world class jazz musicians residing in the Bay Area. Individually, the members have toured with some of the greatest big bands and ensembles in both the jazz and pop world: Maynard Ferguson, Woody Herman, Paul Anka, Ray Charles, Huey Lewis, Tower of Power and many others. The band performs charts written by band members as well as friends of the band, making the shows unique and eclectic.
