What’s in a song? The work of American songwriters such as Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, Jerome Kern, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Rodgers and Hart, and many others continues to be a wellspring of creativity for jazz artists and a source of joy to audiences. For some, it’s the lyrics that grab their hearts; for others, it’s the interaction between beautiful melody and emotional harmony that inspires. The fact is, these songsmiths took their craft to a level that distilled the human experience into 32-bars vignettes, time after time.

Join Stanford Jazz favorites Clairdee (vocals), Bobbe Norris (vocals), Larry Dunlap (piano), and a stellar lineup of guest artists as they bring the Great American Songbook to life. The Los Angeles Times calls Claridee “embracing and engaging.” The NY Jazz Report says, “Bobbe Norris has one heck of a voice and knows how to use it to her best advantage. It's a deep, rich, resonant instrument with a tremendous range that produces beautiful round tones . . . and Dunlap is a real jazz pianist.
