Individually, vocalist Madeline Eastman and pianist George Cables have achieved just about all there is to achieve in jazz. They’ve toured the world, performed and recorded with the greats, and won accolades and admiration from the press and the people alike. What happens when they’re together? Only you will know. At this special closing evening of the Stanford Jazz Festival, you’ll get to hear what happens when these two towering talents, these most sensitive of artists, spontaneously create music together. Bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Gregory Hutchinson—longtime SJW faculty and world-class artists themselves—are joined by special guest trumpeter Marcus Belgrave to support Madeline and George. Of Madeline, Stereophile Magazine says, “She’s hitting from beginning to end, sizzling and snapping with electricity, sliding across bar lines, scatting choruses, slowing to a whisper, bending melody line to her will.
