Miguel Atwood-Ferguson is a multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, music director, producer, DJ, and educator based in his hometown of Los Angeles, California. He’s contributed to over 300 recordings and countless live concerts, and effortlessly bridges diverse genres and generations of musical and cultural elements into cohesive and magical presentations. As a featured soloist, Miguel has performed and/or recorded alongside Hubert Laws, Billy Higgins, Brian Blade, Alphonse Mouzon, Airto Moreira, Buster Williams, Saul Williams, Billy Childs, Henry Grimes, Patrice Rushen, Ndugu Chancler, Hiatus Kaiyote, Bennie Maupin, Ravi Coltrane, The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, and Eric Harland. Miguel has had the honor of being a featured part of the personal bands of Flying Lotus, Austin Peralta, Dwight Trible, Mulatu Astatke, Arthur Verocai, Azar Lawrence, Wadada Leo Smith, Carlos Niño, Mia Doi Todd, Nate Morgan, Zach Harmon, and Vardan Ovsepian among many others. He’s performed at top venues across the world and been a featured performer on the internationally acclaimed BBC Radio 1 program “Worldwide” in London hosted by Gilles Peterson.


Atwood-Ferguson will be joined by special guest Mara Hruby. Oakland-based, fast-rising vocalist Mara Hruby arrived on the scene at the start of 2010. Following a string of successful Bay Area engagements, she released her debut, From Her Eyes, a covers EP recorded, arranged, and engineered by Hruby herself. These seven tracks represent the genesis of the view “from Mara’s Eyes,” as each song reinterprets various works of her favorite male artists. In her words, Hruby calls her music “a melodic melting pot.”
