The vanguard of jazz is hard to describe because the experimental nature of crossing the boundaries of the familiar. Some may call it, Beyond Jazz. Others may call it, Neo Jazz. Whatever the label, it represents all-American innovation and free thinking style: an amalgam of jazz fusion compositions beyond current conception. While the San Jose Jazz Festival represents a broad swathe of genres from across the country, please meet The Neo Jazz Men, featuring The Xman and CB3, two Bay Area composers and musicians with decades of experience in experimental compositions. They are together again at the San Jose Jazz Festival with raw and experimental arrangements of acoustic drums, electronic sounds and the clear, sheer tones of the trumpet.
