Trifield Quartet at Squashed Grapes

The Trifield Quartet will perform August 9th from 7-10pm @ Squashed Grapes in Ventura, Ca. The young quartet includes guitarist Alex Sill, New Zealand-born bassist Ben Shepherd, drummer Wesley Ritenour and Jacob Scesney on Saxophone.

The quartet is an off-shoot of the Trifield Guitar Project. They opened for Robben Ford and Lee Ritenour at the recent Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival in August. In 2012, guitarists Alex Sill, Rami Halperin and Karl Marino met as finalists in jazz legend Lee Ritenour's Six String Theory Guitar Competition in Montana. After being selected out of hundreds of contestants from over 50 countries they were inspired to form the band and were invited back to perform at the festival. More info on the group: Alex has been playing guitar since age 12, is currently a student in the Jazz Studies program at Cal Arts with instruction and mentorship from guitar greats like Steve Vai and Larry Koonse. He's the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and winner in his category at Lee Ritenour's 2012 international Six String Theory Guitar Competition. Wesley's been drumming since age 7 - ever since seeing Harvey Mason perform, and now is a student at Berklee College of Music with major live and studio recording performance credits. Ben has been a bassist since age 7; he's studied under the legendary Alphonso Johnson at Cal Arts and has recent worldwide tours under his belt with the likes of Lee Ritenour, Ellis Hall and David Archuleta.

Sax phenom Jacob Scesney has performed on the hit TV show Glee, has done numerous studio sessions, and tours internationally with different artists. Jacob has shared the stage with some big names including Robben Ford, Christian Scott and Casey Abrams. His extensive list of merits includes over 40 musical awards including 1st place winner of the 2013 Warren Hill Saxophone Summit "Rising Star" Challenge.
