The Dos Pueblos High School Instrumental Music Program will host a spectacular all day Jazz Festival on Saturday March 5, 2016, capped off by an evening performance of award-winning jazz artists, including: Grammy award winning saxophonist and L.A studio icon Tom Scott; Grammy nominated Latin Jazz star Dr. Bobby Rodriguez, and the great UCLA Jazz Orchestra, directed by Charley Harrison. Building upon a most successful event last year, which featured Grammy award winning jazz legend Bob Mintzer, Dos Pueblos HS Instrumental Music Director Les Rose is once again reaching for the stars to create a festival that will become a mainstay of musical culture in the community for years to come. The day long festival will begin at 8:00AM with school big bands and combos competing in divisions from junior high school level all the way up to university. Each school will perform for scoring judges Dr. Chuck Wood from Santa Barbara City College, Gary Pratt from Cal State Northridge, and Paul Rinzler from Cal Poly - then they will receive a live clinic from either Tom Scott or Dr. Bobby Rodriguez. The day competition will end at 6:00PM and the evening concert will then begin at 7:00PM. The entire festival takes place in the Elings Performing Arts Center on the campus of Dos Pueblos High School - tickets are $25 and can be purchased by going to www.dphsmusic.org/jazz or at the door
