About: Original and vintage Roots Rock, Americana, Country Blues, Singer/Songwriter and Western Swing music by recently-formed west coast roots rock outfit with rich acoustic tones, utilizing some stellar but lately idle players.
Back pOrchEstra is a Shelter-in-Place-inspired West Coast musical outfit ...a small Roots Rock, Singer-Songwriter, Americana combo befitting the newfound minimalism of the current times... going back to the basics... dishing out new original material and yet also some reworked historic American Roots selections. Formed for the first time this locked-down summer of 2020, uniting some stellar but lately idle players. They may well have not ever come together were it not for the pandemic.
It started out as a back porch thing, just resonator guitar & drums.. and when the violinist was added, it was jokingly referred to an orchestra... it then kept growing as the pandemic allowed...to the point where the name actually makes sense. Live streaming episodes and live performances in safe, outdoor venues have taken place since as well as sessions in the Big-Pink-style living room recording facilities of Globe Records (as featured in the recent New Copasetics release).
This mostly acoustic band is genre-busting, or more accurately ...genre-fusing with the influences of Roots Rock, Americana, country blues, Western Swing, Cajun, Pop-Rock, and New Orleans music... They draw from new original material as well as reworked classics by Hank Williams, Taj Mahal, Dan Hicks, Big Bill Broonzy, Bob Wills, Bobby Charles& even Christmas Jug Band tunes.

Back pOrchEstra is Tim Eschliman (vocals & resonator guitar, worked with Etta James, Commander Cody, New Copasetics, the Nick Lowe-produced Moonlighters, Christmas Jug Band), Candy Girard (violin, Delaney Bramlet, Tanya Tucker, Clint Black and with Jerry Garcia on his album "Cats Down Under the Stars"), Gary Potterton (guitar, NRPS, Texas Chainsaw), Lou Rodriguez (Gator Beat) and Michael Leal Price.
