He was a founding member of the group Sons of Champlin and was a member of the band Chicago for 28 years. He is one of the great songwriters, arrangers and performers of our generation and wrote the hit song "Turn your Love Around" for George Benson and the classic song "After The Love Is Gone" for Earth Wind and Fire. He also wrote the theme song "In the Heat of the Night" for the Television Series.
