On the Bay Area jazz scene for five decades, Bennett Friedman is a hard swinging saxophonist steeped in bebop. He led a big band in the 1960s and 70s, and accompanied stars such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Marvin Gaye as a member of the Circle Star Theater Orchestra. At Santa Rosa Junior College since 1977, he’s mentored hundreds of musician, and is head of the SRJC music department. He’s joined by drummer Lorca Hart and guitarist Randy Vincent, and ace bassist Chris Amberger.
