Lady Bianca is all soul. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1953 and spent much of her childhood in Macon, Georgia, soaking up the same nutrients that gave rise to Big Joe Turner, Melba Liston, and Otis Redding. After singing gospel music and playing piano in churches, Lady Bianca (then Bianca Thornton) moved to the Bay Area at age 17 to attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Finally going solo in 1995, she released a slew of albums, three of which were nominated for Grammy awards.
