Bijan Taghavi, 19, is a pianist, composer, and educator who is currently studying under scholarship as a sophomore at the Manhattan School of Music. Bijan has had a vast and diverse playing experience. At the age of 3, he was inspired to play the piano from a film entitled El Dorodo which featured a performance of, Bijan's idol, Elton John. After graduating from the Yamaha School of Music at the top of his class, Bijan studied the concertos and monumental works from composers such as Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven, Grieg, Bartok, and Bach under the direction of renowned concert pianist, Robert Estrin, who featured Bijan in numerous performances of Living Piano: Journey Through Time: Historic Concert Experience. Bijan discovered jazz his junior year in high school, aided by his perfect pitch, assimilating music instantly. Bijan then studied under scholarship in Boston at the renowned Berklee College of Music’s 5-Week Summer Performance Program in 2014 and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Piano Performance at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music; he has since studied with and received the pedagogy of Garry Dial, Ted Rosenthal, John Riley, Barry Harris, Jetro da Silva, Chris Rosenburg, Marc Rossi, Alan Pasqua, Luther Hughes, and Joey Sellers, among others....
