Bijan Taghavi Trio at The Merc

Bijan Taghavi, 18, is a jazz pianist who recently accepted a full scholarship well-nigh to study at the Manhattan School of Music for undergraduate studies. He was the featured pianist performing with Grammy artist Nestor Torres, and has been featured in the Orange County Register as the 2013 “Young Star of the Future" for his prize winning performance with the South Coast Symphony. Classically trained under the mentorship of Robert Estrin, Bijan discovered jazz his junior year in high school, aided by his perfect pitch assimilating music instantly. Bijan has since studied under scholarship at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston during the summer of 2014; studied with the legendary Barry Harris, Jetro da Silva, Garry Dial, Marc Rossi, Alan Pasqua, and Joey Sellers; and is a regular guest on Jazz Quest Radio KX 93.5 Laguna Beach, California. ...
