Nestled in the scenic Poconos - 80 miles from NYC - 100 from Philly – is the sleepy town of Delaware Water Gap, PA. Home to many acclaimed jazz musicians and the famous Deer Head Inn - the village is the site of the Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts (COTA), held the weekend after labor day. The 38th annual COTA Jazz Festival is celebrating the musical career of founder Rick Chamberlain.
This friendly, all-volunteer-staffed festival begins on Friday night with a free adjudicated jazz-themed art exhibit opening followed by dance, theater and chamber music ($10.00). Saturday moves down the street to the main stage where festival goers can be seated on the blanket and cooler-covered hillside to enjoy 20 hours of jazz – of all genres (including the 35th edition of the COTA Cats big band – high school all stars mentored in the jazz tradition) and a free Sunday Jazz Mass - or wander through the site to sample delicious culinary treats, view exquisite arts and crafts, and enjoy a special children’s area. (Tickets: $40. - 2 day, $28. per day, $15. Seniors and students)...
