Bennett Friedman's quartet is performing Friday, November 2, 8PM, at Newman Auditorium on the SRJC campus. Featuring Aaron Garner on piano, Peter Barshay on bass, and Alan Hall on drums. We are planning to include Chick Corea’s “Got a Match?”, “The Dolphin” by Luiz Eca, and Cherokee Sketches by Fritz Pauer. Admission is $15, $10 for seniors and students. He has performed with James Moody, Eddie Harris, Oscar Brown Jr., and the Woody Herman Band. Peter Barshay has been featured on bass with Milt Jackson, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, and many other jazz greats. He has produced the album, Pit of Fashion, that showcases his compositions. Drummer, composer (and painter) Alan Hall has performed and/or recorded with Paul McCandless, Russell Ferrante, Taylor Eigsti, Art Lande, and many other jazz greats. He has toured extensively with Cirque du Soleil and taught drum set and ensembles at Berklee College of Music. Currently, Alan teaches at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley and Cal State University East Bay in Hayward. His group, Ratatat, has recently performed at the San Jose Jazz Festival and the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley.
