Award-winning jazz saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist Paul VornHagen returns to the Bay Area to present The American Songbook Jazz Concert. The concert will feature composers such as Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Rodgers and Hart, Cole Porter, Thelonius Monk and others. Michigan resident VornHagen has won Detroit Music Awards in five categories: Jazz Reeds, Instrumentalist, Jazz Recording, World Music Recording, and Talent Deserving Wider Recognition. Paul studied at City College Of San Francisco before moving to Michigan. Jazz Times magazine said of Paul’s music, “Gutsy sax, sensuous flute, and vocals, smooth as silk”. This California performance will mark the third occasion for VornHagen to tour with Bay Area-based jazz trio Charged Particles.
