George's Nightclub is proud to introduce Jazz at George's! The series began Thursday January 5, 2012 and will happen every first and third Thursday of every month*! In association with Urban Music Presents, George's will present the best of local, national and international Jazz superstars and we expect the stage to be graced with surprise guest visits from renowned Bay Area Jazz players. George's invites musicians and fans of Jazz to come and participate in what promises to be an incredibly hot Thursday session!

Josh’s recent recording projects include the soundtrack to the movie “La Mission,” as well as albums with Larry Coryell, Phil Ranelin and Jacqui Naylor. Other notable recordings include Yosvanny Terry and Columna B, Peter Apfelbaum, Steve Bernstein, Chico Freeman, Arthur Blythe, Tucpac Shakur, Goapele, Zion-I, Taj Mahal, Bob Weir and AfroCuba de Mantanzas.

Josh continues to perform with his various ensembles at venues and festivals in the Bay Area and remains an influence on and supporter of jazz in the community.

About Ray Barretto (April 29, 1929 – February 17, 2006)

Ray Barretto, one of the most prolific and influential Latin percussionists in the history of modern jazz. With a musical heritage as deeply rooted in the bebop jam sessions held in Harlem during the late ‘40’s as in his Puerto Rican ancestry, Barretto spent over four decades refining the integration of the Afro-Caribbean rhythms with the improvisational elements of jazz.
