Mikailo Kasha at San Jose Jazz Winter Fest at Cafe Stritch

SJZ High School All Stars alumnus Mikailo Kasha is a jazz bassist, composer/arranger and bandleader from Mountain View. In 2019, Kasha was the recipient of DownBeat magazine’s 42nd Annual Student Music Awards Jazz Soloist Undergraduate College Outstanding Performance.

Since his time in the All Stars, Kasha has shared stages with Maria Schneider, Ben Wendel and Dave Binney, among others, breaking into both the national and international scenes. Previously attending the Eastman School of Music under Jeff Campbell, he currently studies at Florida State University under the direction of Rodney Jordan. While at FSU, Kasha has been invited to attend programs worldwide, including Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute for Jazz, Jazz Aspen’s JAS Academy, the Siena Jazz Workshop and the Generations Workshop. He is a recipient of both the Northeast Florida Jazz Association, Tallahassee Music Guild scholarships and a full-scholarship recipient for the 2019 Siena Jazz Workshop.
