Madeleine Peyroux has come a long way from her days of singing on the streets of Paris. Originally inspired by the great Billie Holiday, Peyroux has matured into a creative vocalist whose artistic curiosity knows no bounds. Recently, she has found a new muse in the legacy of the late Ray Charles, specifically Ray's most popular (and at one time controversial) album: Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music. Her latest project, The Blue Room, revamps the music from Charles' landmark recording, along with choice gems by songwriters Randy Newman, Warron Zevon, John Hartford, Leonard Cohen, and Buddy Holly.
