The three musicians met in the early 1990s when they were living and playing music in Cologne. Pianist Christoph Adams played with Ernst Bier and Ed Schuller in a trio, among others, and all three could also be heard on stage with clarinetist Perry Robinson for several years. Several CDs have been released featuring these performances. Bassist Pepe Berns has been active in numerous projects with both Christof Adams and Ernst Bier and has toured throughout Europe.
