It was a cold Sunday in November 2022, still during the pandemic, when the first charity concert initiated by Frank Schneider took place in the Kartäuserkirche. This gave rise to a special concert series featuring Cologne-based artists who are deeply committed to helping those who urgently need our support: our children, in Cologne and everywhere else.
For the 7th edition of Kölner Künstler:innen für Kinder, the charity series is coming to the LOFT for the first time, featuring the duo Shannon Barnett and David Helm.


The Cologne duo of Australian Shannon Barnett and David Helm was formed in 2020 as part of Deutschlandfunk’s Cologne Duets series during the pandemic.
Barnett is known to many as a trombonist and composer who occasionally uses her voice to add color to various projects. With the duo program How Much Is The Moon?, she puts her trombone aside to focus entirely on the singer-songwriter aspect of her artistic personality. Helm, alias Marek Johnson, is one of the busiest bassists on the young Cologne scene, whether jazz or indie pop.
In their duo, they present songs from both sides, between advanced jazz and quirky songwriter sounds, tentative and fragile, courageous and radical.
