Edward Simon:
Praised by DownBeat as “one of the strongest pianists of his generation,” award-winning Venezuelan-born pianist and composer Edward Simon is a driving force in modern jazz, known for blending the sounds of Latin America, the Caribbean, West Africa, and the U.S. into a seamless, emotionally rich musical language. A pivotal member of the SFJAZZ Collective and a collaborator with jazz luminaries across generations, Simon’s artistry shines through more than 20 acclaimed albums, numerous commissions, and headline performances at iconic venues worldwide. His music—at once lithe, beautiful, and deeply resonant—explores universal stories and social themes, most recently in multidisciplinary projects like When Dogs Howl, which memorializes the journeys of Venezuelan refugees. A passionate educator and mentor, Simon serves on the faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, continuing to inspire new generations while expanding his own legacy as a visionary artist, composer, and advocate for creative expression....
