Stella Heath began singing at age eight, and her early musical influences were Louis Armstrong, Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Ella Fitzgerald and others. After studying acting at Interlochen Arts Academy and Syracuse University, she spent many years as a Shakespearian actress in New York City. She returned to her home state of California in 2014, starting Bandjango Collectif, a band that mixes French jazz manouche, New Orleans hot swing, and eclectic global folk. In 2019 she blended history and music with The Billie Holiday Project, a musical tribute to the great Lady Day. In October 2023, Stella released Waiting Just for You, an EP with Ben Levin.
